TalkSport reporter Alex Crook believes that West Ham United should be doing all they can to bring young striker Armando Broja to the club in the summer.

Broja is currently enjoying a successful loan spell at Southampton, and although he will return to his parent club at the end of the season, he is reportedly wanted by several Premier League sides, including the Hammers.

Despite sitting fourth in the league, the Hammers have struggled in front of goal more recently, and although Michail Antonio had an impressive start to the season, he has suffered from injury woes and fatigue as the season has progressed.

According to Football Insider, West Ham were interested in signing the 20-year-old striker on a permanent deal in January, and although Crook doesn’t fancy their chances of being more successful in the summer, he told GiveMeSport that they would be ‘foolish’ not to show further interest once the season is over.

“That’s the most likely outcome [another year at Southampton], but teams like West Ham and Newcastle would be foolish not to at least have a try.” Crook mentioned.

TIF Thoughts on a move to West Ham for Armando Broja…

Broja has impressed during his time on loan with the Saints this season, as he has netted six times in 19 games having started just 11 of those matches.

Interestingly, Paul Robinson has dubbed the striker as ‘top-class’.

Broja averages 2.9 aerial duels won per match, which is better than Michail Antonio’s total of 2.2.

This impressive form will have attracted a lot of attention from sides that sit outside of the top four, especially with the lack of natural goalscorers in the game at the moment.

However, with Chelsea also having struggles in their attacking areas, with Timo Werner not living up to his name and issues off the field with Romelu Lukaku, Thomas Tuchel could be tempted to give the Albanian forward a chance if he continues his fine goalscoring form for the remainder of the season.

So all things considered, including Crook’s claims, it does seem as if signing Broja could be a tall order for West Ham.
