Spurs boss Antonio Conte has taken to Instagram to hit back at critics by showing the expertly created first goal against Manchester City on Saturday.

Conte’s Tottenham side beat the Premier League champions 3-2 away from home on Saturday evening, despite having just 29% possession.

The win has been labelled as a ‘tactical masterclass‘ by Conte, but he seemingly believes that the victory was more than just catching Pep Guardiola’s side on the break with counter-attacks, taking issue with such a description of his master plan.

Jack Pitt-Brooke took to Twitter to discuss the Italian’s Instagram post.

TIF Thoughts on the journalist’s tweet…

In agreement with Pitt-Brooke’s later tweet, it is all dependent on what the definition of a counter-attack is, as it is very much subjective on how to describe it, and each definition is different.

However, a football coach of Antonio Conte’s class and experience would surely be able to identify what the term means, even if there may be a sense of bias towards protecting his own players.

Using social media in this way is a good method of communicating with the fans on a more personal level, so after Conte’s recent activities on the app, we may see more managers take this approach when answering critics or sticking up for their teams.
