Tottenham Hotspur did not reject a potential £3bn takeover bid last week, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

That is according to the reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold, who was speaking on his latest YouTube video following the Lilywhites’ latest defeat.

Do you expect ENIC to sell any time soon?

No

No

According to the Daily Record, a bid in the region of £3bn was rejected by the north London club after apparent interest from American investment group LAMF Group Ventures arose.

Reporter Duncan Castles claimed the bid from the company chaired by Jeffrey Soros was rejected as it would require the club to list on the stock market for the first time since 2012.

The news comes amid a difficult period for Antonio Conte’s side, with the Lilywhites on a three-game losing run in the Premier League and a game against Manchester City next up at the weekend.

Despite the reports that emerged last week, Gold had this update on the situation, which may not be to the liking of many Spurs fans:

“Everyone I’ve spoken to about that has said it’s not true. And there were some people that even suggested for that type of company that had been mentioned, it wasn’t actually something that physically they’re able to do, or something.

“I know there’s a fair few people that would love to see Tottenham sold, they’re frustrated with ENIC, frustrated with Daniel Levy, whatever you want to call it. Personally, if you look at it from a business point of view, I don’t think those types would want to sell the club right now, it doesn’t really make sense.”

TIF Thoughts on ENIC’s future…

This summer feels like a huge transfer window coming up for Tottenham with Conte at the helm. With just two arrivals in the January market, it feels like Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy were unable to provide the Italian with what he wanted.

And with their chances of a spot in the top four taking a major hit over recent weeks, it is apparent the squad needs some investment to bring them back up to their standards from just a few years ago.

If the current owners are unable to financially back Conte in the summer, then it is surely in the best interests of all involved for them to sell up to some extent.
