Dan Kilpatrick has been speaking on Talking Tottenham about how Rodrigo Bentancur could be the man to finally replace Moussa Dembele.

Tottenham sold Dembele to Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F back in 2019 and appear to have never replaced him despite players such as Moussa Sissoko, Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks having all featured since his departure.

Will Spurs make the top four?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, Kilpatrick believes that January arrival Bentancur could well fill the void left by the Belgian despite having started just one game for Spurs since joining on Deadline Day, which should be music to the ears of Tottenham fans.

Kilpatrick was full of praise for new signing Bentancur.

He said: “Bentancur looks like he’s going to add a touch of quality and class to the midfield, which probably has been missing since Dembele, really.”

TIF Thoughts on Rodrigo Bentancur…

It appears that Fabio Paratici may well have pulled off a great piece of business by bringing in Bentancur, as he’d featured heavily at Juventus under several different managers, is a full Uruguayan international and has already played 120 minutes in the Premier League, so Antonio Conte clearly believes he’s ready for this level of football.

As things stand, Conte has players such as Winks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and the injured Oliver Skipp, that he can call upon, but signing an international with experience of winning titles and playing in Europe’s top competition will only serve to improve that midfield base and upgrade it.
