Former Premier League midfielder Florent Malouda has given his praise to Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin and has labelled him as one of the most exciting players in the division.

Saint-Maximin has registered eight goal contributions in 23 Premier League games this season (according to Transfermarkt) in a lowly Newcastle side, but his main strengths come when dazzling defenders with his pace and skill, according to Malouda.

When recently asked about what attacking players have impressed him, the Frenchman revealed that Saint-Maximin is someone who you would pay to watch.

“I really like Allan Saint-Maximin. He’s a really skilful player and is the kind of player you would pay to watch because he’s always creating something different and it’s really refreshing,” Malouda said.

TIF Thoughts on Malouda’s praise towards Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin…

Newcastle have found a gem in Saint-Maximin and he has been described as a player that they can build their team around, in what looks like a promising future at St. James’ Park.

Former French international Malouda has given his appraisal to Saint-Maximin, but we could see an even further progression in terms of his form in future years at Newcastle.

With the recent Saudi takeover, Newcastle have the funds to sign players on the same level as their French star, whereas at times since the winger joined Newcastle, the game plan was just to give it to him and run, which will have put a lot of pressure on the 24-year-old’s shoulders.

Kieran Trippier’s arrival at St. James’ Park is an example of the takeover’s effect, because he is an international player who has experience in the Champions League, and if someone like Saint-Maximin wants to improve, then playing with those at this level can only help.

Getting praise from someone of the same nationality and position as you can be a great boost for a player such as Saint-Maximin, and the more praise he receives from former players, he could have even more confidence going forward.
