Newcastle United pulled themselves out of the relegation zone on Tuesday night with an impressive win in front of the St. James’ Park crowd.

Goals from Ryan Fraser and Kieran Trippier helped Eddie Howe’s side on their way to a 3-1 victory over Everton, which now has the Magpies sitting in 17th spot in the table.

BBC reporter Alistair Magowan spotted an interesting moment on the touchline which saw the assistant manager, Jason Tindall, roaring with delight.

Jamaal Lascelles saw the ball deflect off him to provide Everton with the lead, however, moments later, his header played a huge part in the Toon drawing level.

As St. James’ Park erupted, Magowan noticed how calm Howe remained on the sideline – but the same could not be said for his assistant:

“Eddie Howe somehow remained cool among the carnage. Not so his assistant Jason Tindall, who let out an almighty roar after the equaliser,” said Magowan from the Tyneside press box.

TIF Thoughts on NUFC’s survival push…

This felt like a real moment where Howe’s side may have put down a marker for the remainder of the season by claiming three huge points against a fellow Premier League struggler.

It is now two league victories in a row for the Toon, and although they are far from being classed as safe, it feels like momentum may be swinging their way.

Having found themselves behind in the game, it shows strong character from the Toon side to instantly pull themselves back level within minutes of Lascelles’ own goal.
