Liverpool: Diaz impressed on full debut against Leicester

|

Luis Diaz impressed in his full debut on Thursday night during Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Leicester in the PremierĀ  League.

Diaz signed from FC Porto in the recent January transfer window for 45milion euros and has already started to prove his worth after he was labelled as a ‘constant threat’ by GIVEMESPORT.

Andy Robertson was full of praise whilst speaking to BT Sport after the game, “My Spanish isn’t great but me and Luis made it work today!” Robertson said.

Luis Diaz replacement for Salah?

Mohamad Salah has been arguably the best player in the Premier League over the past two seasons and has sparked a lot of interest from sides across Europe.

With the introduction of Diaz for such a large fee, when Liverpool already have Sadio Mane and Salah occupying the flanks, the signing could be a sign of a move away from Anfield for the Egyptian.

Diaz has scored 14 goals and registered five assists in 18 league games for Porto which earnt him the move to the Premier League, whilst Salah has already notched 16 goals and nine assists in the Premier League.

The players are similar in terms of stats as they both have a ruthlessness in front of goal, therefore Diaz could act as a suitable replacement if Salah was to exit Liverpool anytime soon.

Harvey Elliott loan move imminent?

With the introduction of Diaz, Elliott may find game time hard to come by and Klopp could opt to send him on loan to get much needed minutes at first-team level.

Elliott impressed Jurgen Klopp last campaign whilst on loan at Blackburn in the Championship.

The 18-year-old’s form in the Championship was enough for Klopp to give him a chance in the Premier League this season and things were going well until he suffered an unfortunate injury.

If Elliott hadn’t got injured and continued his fine form, then Klopp may not have seen it necessary to bring in another wide player, however with the youngster recently returning it was unclear how fit he would be for the remainder of the season, Klopp understandably opted to sign the Colombian.
