Leeds United fan and presenter Joe Wainman is very excited on Twitter having seen that both Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips have been pictured back in training.

Phillips, who underwent surgery at the backend of last year, and Cooper, who’s been suffering from a hamstring injury since December, have been big misses for Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa, given how heavily both the midfielder and captain have featured since the Argentine arrived.

Will Leeds sign Aaronson in the summer?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

During the pair’s injury, Bielsa has been relying on the likes of Adam Forshaw, Pascal Struijk and Diego Llorente to help the team stay away from the bottom three, which is what they’ve just about been able to do, so this timely return could be a massive boost.

Wainman couldn’t hide his delight when Leeds tweeted a picture of Phillips and Cooper outside in training clothing, with the YouTuber admitting they were ‘things you love to see’.

TIF Thoughts on Joe Wainman’s delight over the potential returns of Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper…

Leeds did not end up signing anyone over the winter, although they were clearly interested in improving the centre of midfield having been offered the chance to sign both Harry Winks and Donny van de Beek, as reported by Phil Hay, while they also bid for Brenden Aaronson.

However, their lack of business could’ve been down to the fact that people behind the scenes, including Victor Orta and Bielsa, knew players such as Phillips and Cooper were nearing a return, so signing players could well have done more bad than good as they would’ve bloated out the squad.

And now the duo look to be nearing full fitness and a return to match action, it is no surprise that Wainman has voiced his delight over the development – and we would imagine he won’t be the only one ahead of Leeds’ next game as their fight to avoid the drop continues.
