Leeds United fans will have been left buzzing by the performance their loanee Cody Drameh put in over the weekend.

Having signed for the club in the summer of 2020, opportunities in the senior side were very few and far between for Drameh in his first season, with all of his minutes coming for the U23 side.

However, a combination of his development and a rather horrific injury crisis at Elland Road meant that he was able to get some minutes for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season. Despite this, he was shipped out to Championship outfit Cardiff City in the January transfer window, where he’s been able to play a lot more regularly.

His most recent performance in the Bluebirds’ draw against Blackpool may have been his best yet, as he managed to complete 81% of his passes, make one key pass, win two aerial duels and two interceptions, whilst also providing the assist for Joel Bagan to grab an equaliser for the hosts in the early stages of the second half (via WhoScored).

Do you think Cody Drameh should be a regular squad player for Leeds next season?

This could very well be a case of Leeds regretting that they let him go, because whilst this is just one game, there is evidence to show that he’s been performing this well ever since he left Elland Road, as he currently leads Cardiff in tackles with 3.1 per game, whilst also averaging 1.1 interceptions, 2.4 clearances and 0.4 crosses per game – all of which rank in the top 10 for Steve Morison’s men (via WhoScored).

And given how many goals Leeds have shipped so far this season (50), the second-most of any team in the league, it’s not impossible to think that he could have made some impact on this Leeds side, especially if he was able to get better and better the more minutes in the Premier League he played.

With injuries continuing to pile up for the Whites, granting him his wish of wanting to leave instead of holding firm may very well have been the wrong decision for them to make.
