Aston Villa have been eyeing up Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma and reportedly attempted to sign him in January but fell just short, Pete O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT.

“Yes 100%. He will be on the radar of Villa again in the summer. They tried to get him in January but they were unable to agree a deal with Brighton.” O’Rourke mentioned.

Bissouma has been a stand out performer for the Seagulls since signing in 2018 and has been on the radar of many Premier League clubs, such as Arsenal.

Douglas Luiz replacement?

Douglas Luiz promised so much when he signed for Villa from Manchester City in 2019, but the 23-year-old has fallen short of expectations for Villa fans after failing to produce a consistent run of performances.

He has featured in 18 of Villa’s 22 matches in this Premier League campaign, but this is largely down to lack of options in that position and he has failed to score this term.

With Luiz being linked to a move away from Villa Park, the Mali International could be the perfect replacement for the Brazilian, as Gerrard continuously looks to bring new players in.

To the eye, Bissouma is an energetic, ball winning midfielder, who would fit Gerrard’s system perfectly with his willingness to work hard throughout 90 minutes, something that Luiz has struggled with.

Link up with John McGinn

John McGinn is a midfielder who has been a regular in the starting XI for Villa since he signed in 2018, but finding a midfield partner for him has been hard to come by.

Bissouma could be just the man to form a partnership with McGinn, and with the pairings talents at both ends of the pitch, they could be a force to be reckoned with.

McGinn has scored three times and assisted twice for Villa this season but his strengths come in the middle third of the pitch as he is constantly on the move trying to win the ball back, whilst also offering his support to start attacks.

Bissouma has also displayed his ability at both ends of the field and just recently against Spurs in Brighton’s FA Cup exit, he scored a superb solo goal.

The “phenomenal£22.5m-rated star could be a fine addition to this Villa side.
