A whole host of Sunderland fans are buzzing on Twitter to see Aiden McGeady seemingly edging closer to full fitness.

Compared to previous seasons, this campaign has not been as explosive and impactful for McGeady, as the 34-year old has just three goals and four assists to his name in 14 League One appearances.

The Irish winger has also had to spend a large chunk of the season on the sidelines, with Black Cats fans last seeing McGeady back in November when he made a 16-minute cameo appearance against Shrewsbury Town, but the winger has now been pictured back in training with the first team.

Sunderland are currently in a rough patch of form with no wins in their past three league matches, and as the fixtures keep coming, Lee Johnson will surely welcome back the return of McGeady, who boasted an impressive record of four goals and 14 assists in the league last season.
