Sheffield Wednesday fans were not happy on Twitter to see Mark Beevers linked with a return to Hillsborough.

It has been an indifferent season for Wednesday, as they were previously riding on a 12-game unbeaten run in the league, but then they saw two games called off in succession before losing two games in a row against Sunderland and Shrewsbury Town.

Will Sheffield Wednesday be promoted?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

These two very poor results have seen the Owls fall away from the play-offs and they now sit six points off the pace, but that does not appear to be changing anything in the dugout, as Darren Moore continues to work on improving the team – and that may be through the addition of former player Beevers, if the report from journalist Alan Nixon is to be believed.

A lot of Wednesday fans on Twitter are fuming with this transfer claim.

What have these Owls fans been saying?

“Good grief are we going back in time here or what”

@hels86x

“let’s go the whole hog and get Mick Lyon’s, Shirtcliffe and Pearson back. This is not the answer but shows how far we have fallen.”

@hirsty9

“The reality of how far we’ve fallen as a club is really beginning to hit home now”

@mark_milligan73

Can’t wait to see him booting ball 50 foot straight up in air again shocking”

@jonnyhardy7

“Any signing we are rumoured to be making suggests Moore is staying therefore the season is over already”

@GoalShort

“Clubs gone backwards 10 seasons”

@Neil78266547

“I’m more concerned that Moore is still allowed to bring players in, needs sacking asap”

@jevonowl

Beevers came through the club’s academy and racked up 160 appearances, but now at 32 years old, it doesn’t scream ambition and planning to move the club forward if this is the type of player Moore is targeting.
