A whole host of Celtic fans were not happy on Twitter following the latest Riley McGree transfer update.

Celtic seemingly had a deal all done and sorted with the midfielder’s club Charlotte FC, and they also had a deal agreed with the player to sign a contract, however, English Championship cub Middlesbrough have arrived with a bid at the last minute.

Will Celtic win the league?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

According to the Daily Mail, Boro have offered the MLS club £4 million and offered McGree £14,000 per week, which is said to be an improvement on what he would have been earning at Celtic, and thus, the Hoops could be set to miss out on the midfielder.

A lot of Celtic fans have flocked to Twitter following this McGree update.

What have these Celtic fans been saying?

“Embarrassing for Nicholson. The only way to save face is to deliver Wolf”

@Diegos_left_peg

“Always interesting to see if a player goes for money or a better career move. Have to wait and see”

@BhoysAnalytics

“Why would they offer 5m if we have an offer of 3m accepted. Surely they could match the offer or slightly better and offer more wages. Bit suspicious about this one.”

@GordonB1888

“I’m sorry but why would he go down south in the championship where up here he can play European football every season win trophies every season”

This English Premier League winner almost moved to Celtic.

It appears that these Celtic fans will not be losing any sleep over McGree potentially not joining the club, and while they may believe it’s down to personal terms, it could be that the midfielder wants to continue playing in the Championship, having done so for Birmingham City on loan earlier this campaign.
