A whole host of Celtic fans were left furious on Twitter to see Scott Bain sign a new contract.
It’s safe to say that Bain is not a favourite under Ange Postecoglou, with the ‘keeper having only made four appearances across all competitions this season, seemingly not being trusted to even play in many cup encounters.
Will Celtic win the league?
Bain was set to become a free agent in the summer of 2023, so offering him a new deal makes sense in terms of protecting his market value, but that only matters if they’re looking to sell him this summer, or Bain himself may well be happy playing as a backup to Joe Hart and will gladly sit on the bench until 2024.
A lot of Celtic fans aren’t happy to see Bain sign a new deal on Twitter.
What have these Celtic fans been saying?
“Okay we have now definitely been reminded that Celtic are back”
“What a horrendous decision this is”
“Gobsmacked at this decision. As poor a goalkeeper as you’ll find.”
“Day ruined cheers”
“The incompetence that permeates Celtic Football Club is just outrageous.”
Bain has been with Celtic on a permanent basis since 2018, but has clearly not impressed enough, given the fact Joe Hart was brought in over the summer and immediately handed the starting role under Postecoglou, but the Australian manager clearly sees something in him to sanction a new deal for the 30-year old, despite the fans’ anger.
