A number of Celtic fans have reacted with excitement after hearing their club are close to signing Sligo Rovers striker Johnny Kenny.
Indeed, as first reported by the Sligo Champion, the Bhoys are currently leading the race to claim the 18-year-old’s signature. Rovers will reportedly receive a fee of €150,000 (£125,500) plus add-ons.

The article adds that Scottish Premier League club Hibernian have also had an eye on the teenager – and even invited him to a game back in December. However, it looks as though he will end up signing for Ange Postecoglou’s team instead.

The Ireland U19 forward has impressed playing in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division. Last season, he showed plenty of promise, scoring 11 times in the league, while providing a couple of assists, too. He even has a goal in Europe this term, scoring in a qualifier for the Europa Conference League.
It looks as though Celtic are ready to take a chance on the talented youngster and their fans seem more than happy about that – though he may first have to play in their B team.
