A number of Celtic fans have reacted well online after seeing their club have officially given Johnny Kenny the number 24 shirt at Parkhead.
With the January transfer market now open, the Bhoys have been looking to bolster their squad with some new signings. One of those arrivals was the 18-year-old striker, who recently arrived from League of Ireland Premier Division side Sligo Rovers on a five-year contract.
Being such a young age, it remains to be seen as to how ready he will be for senior football in Scotland and how manager Ange Postecoglou will plan to use him over the remainder of the season.
However, after the club’s official Twitter account shared his new squad number online, a number of fans have been left rather excited.
Here’s what these Celtic fans said…
“Wouldn’t be giving a B team player 24 would we?”
Will Johnny Kenny play for Celtic's first team this season?
Yes
No
Kenny definitely looks to be an interesting prospect. After all, despite his tender age, he scored 11 league goals for Sligo Rovers in 2021. On top of that, he has been capped for the Republic of Ireland at under-19 level.
Still, it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be trusted for the senior team any time soon, but it certainly seems as though these fans believe this number is low enough to suggest he will be involved soon enough.
