A number of Celtic fans have been left extremely excited as the signing of Australian international Riley McGree is believed to be very close to completion.

According to a report in the Daily Record, the Bhoys are set to make the midfielder their fifth signing of the season – beating a number of other clubs to the deal – with only international clearance delaying a £3m transfer.

The deal has not been officially confirmed by the club – though the same article claims that Postecoglou took a ‘hands-on role’ in negotiations and that it was his ‘personal touch’ that got the move over the line, as the two men had worked with each other before in the Australian national team.

The information was shared online by the Daily Record Sport Twitter page and it soon caught the eye of many delighted supporters.

Here’s what these Celtic fans said…

“Wow just wow, we have beaten off competition from elite clubs for this boy. He’s going to be a super star. Final price of the jigsaw for Angeball means title in the bag. Can’t wait to see the team in full flow, we will destroy Rangers now.”

“Not often in past that it can be said that we moved “quickly and decisively” when it comes to transfers. I like this new Celtic.”
“We are winning the title, end of.”
“Ange is special, and we’re lucky to have him at this club.”

“What a window.”

If McGree is to sign, he would follow J-League trio Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Daizen Maeda, as well as young striker Johnny Kenny (formerly of Sligo Rovers) to the Scottish club this winter.

After such an exciting start to the January transfer window, it’s easy to see why these fans are so enthusiastic about their side right now – especially with their manager’s influence helping new players to sign.

We still have to remember that the SFA and SPFL will be doing all in their power to make sure their new establishment club across the city are the benefactors of enough “honest mistakes” to ensure they are in pole position come May.
