Celtic have signed young midfielder Matt O’Riley on a four-and-a-half-year deal, after he sealed a transfer from English third-tier side MK Dons.

He is the fifth signing this January at Celtic, following in the footsteps of Japanese trio Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi, Reo Hatate and Johnny Kenny.

It’s evident that the Celtic supporters are delighted to have him on board, although their main desire remains that permanent Jota deal.

He has had a good season in League One so far for MK Dons. Scoring seven goals and grabbing five assists in his 26 games, meaning he’s an attacking outlet from the midfield.

Which season did Roy Keane join the Hoops?

It’s a great start after the winter break from Celtic who have managed to strengthen their squad but also close the gap at the top of the league to fierce rivals Rangers.

Celtic eased past Hibernian 2-0 on Monday, before Rangers slipped up. They drew 1-1 at Aberdeen, with Ryan Kent seeing red in the game.

Those results leave Celtic just four points behind Rangers now, keeping Ange Postecoglou’s side in the title race this season.
