West Ham United are planning for their January transfer window, with former favourite Jesse Lingard still on David Moyes’ shopping list.

The English international was on loan at the London Stadium for the second half of last season and was in inspired form, helping him capture the Premier League’s Player of the Month for April, having also been nominated in February and March last year.

Three nominations for Player of the Month helps to perpetuate the consistency and high level of Lingard’s performances for the Hammers.

And with the January window underway, links between the Manchester United midfielder the east Londoners have not gone away.

ExWHUemployee’s The West Ham Way podcast posted the following on its Patreon page: “The Jesse Lingard situation seems to be continuously being spoken about and I don’t believe that anything has changed overnight.

“It remains the same that Moyes is very keen to bring the player back and Lingard is considering his options with no decisions made as yet. Although, it’s fair to say the player and his agent love a bit of West Ham flirting. I will only say that the player is on his way when the deal is almost done because this one has changed so frequently over its duration.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham United’s Jesse Lingard interest…

A potential West Ham return seems a good deal for all parties. Manchester United can get some money raised, while West Ham can improve their team. It would also see Lingard return to a side where he enjoyed huge success last campaign.

Which defender born in 1985 used to play for West Ham's academy?

He played 16 times for Moyes’ side, managing to bag nine goals and record five assists in his spell last season in the Premier League.

If he moves to West Ham permanently and can recapture that form, then you’d imagine it could be a big boost for the Hammers in their hunt for Champions League football as well as their Europa League campaign.
