Tottenham Hotspur had an incredibly frustrating day at Vicarage Road, relying on a set-piece in the 96th minute to edge past Watford 1-0.

Although there’s no feeling quite like a dramatic last minute winner, Spurs fans were fuming with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for delivering yet another poor performance.

They wanted changes in the midfield to set up with more of an attacking threat against a side that were going to dig in and try and frustrate their opponents.

They took to Twitter to make their feelings known, not holding back with their assessment of his game.

What the Spurs fans said about Hojbjerg

“All I’m asking for is Hojbjerg not to start. He slows us down too much.” @AdanOsmand

“Terminate Hojbjerg’s contract please.” @tottenbloop

“It is frustrating that he [Conte] keeps persisting with this midfield pair. Hojbjerg hasn’t been good enough for a while too.” @Kohzst

“Hojbjerg stinks.” @xthfcjamie

“Emerson and Hojbjerg literally add nothing to this team. Anybody can do what they do, some tackles and sideways passing.” @Manu23588

“HOJBJERG HAS RUINED MY ENTIRE YEAR ALREADY BRING ON 2023.” @thfcjoe_

The former Bayern Munich man has featured in the majority of the Premier League games for Spurs, showing that the managers in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium value his contributions.

There’s rumours that Franck Kessie could be on his way to Spurs at the end of the season, so maybe it’s a case of patience, waiting for the new arrival to replace the Danish international?

Do you know Spurs' former academy players? Which former Burnley player used to play for Spurs' academy?

The win was huge for Spurs, who capitalised on those above them (Arsenal) dropping points today, cutting the gap by three points, leaving them two points away from the top four but with two games in hand.
