Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to an article from journalist Alasdair Gold ahead of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

Antonio Conte’s men are on the brink of being knocked out of another competition, as having already been forced to withdraw from the Europa Conference League, they find themselves 2-0 down from the first leg against Chelsea in the EFL Cup.

So they are going to have to pull out something special if they are to have a chance of making the final, which would give them a chance to end their trophy drought that goes back to 2008.

How many points did Tottenham gain in the following seasons? First up: 2020/21

Writing in an article for Football.london, Gold laid out what team he thought the Italian would pick for the clash in north London tonight, and he went for a 3-5-2 formation that lined up as: Lloris; Tanganga, Sanchez, Davies; Emerson, Lo Celso, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon; Lucas, Kane.

His lineup sees a few changes being made from the first leg, with Ryan Sessegnon replacing Matt Doherty at left wing-back, and Giovani Lo Celso replacing Son Heung-min, who is out with an injury.

He relayed his prediction to Tottenham fans on Twitter for them to react to, where it generated some interesting responses, with some not too happy with the team that he went for:

“So grim.”

“Tanganga? No! He is clearly out of shape!”
“Sorry not even feeling this game tonight”
“So the same hideous back 3 that cost us last week”
“We don’t stand a chance with Tanganga and Hojbjerg”
“just get over with this game we have no chance”
“You can’t start Tanganga after his last two performances and Winks should be in over Hojbjerg.”

Whether or not Gold proves to be right, only time will tell, but hopefully it will be enough to at least put up a decent performance and make it a competitive second leg.
