Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to news surrounding the future of Steven Bergwijn following his recent performance in the Premier League.
In a last-gasp moment that resembled their famous night in Amsterdam, Antonio Conte’s men were able to snatch a dramatic 3-2 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, with the Dutchman bagging two goals in stoppage time to give them a huge boost in their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
It could very well have been one of the final moments in a Spurs shirt for the 24-year-old, as according to noted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano a few weeks ago, Spurs had put him up for sale this winter.
However, according to journalist Ryan Taylor, Tottenham have already changed their minds over what to do with him after his performance last night.
He claims: “Tottenham will no longer entertain offers for two-goal hero Steven Bergwijn, with Antonio Conte now optimistic the forward can use his stoppage-time heroics at Leicester as a springboard to finally kickstart his Spurs career.”
This news was relayed by @thespursweb, @Daily_Hotspur and @TheSpursExpress for fans to react to, where it’s fair to say that there were a lot of them rather happy to see the update:
“I hope this is true, looked like a player desperate to prove himself!”
Do you want Bergwijn to be sold this month?
Yes
No
Although, it makes you think that if one performance can change their stance on him, hopefully they don’t do the same if he has a bad one between now and the end of the window.
