Tottenham Hotspur fans have suffered through a quiet transfer window so far, failing to secure the services of any new players for the second part of the 2021/2022 season.

However, respected journalist Alasdair Gold is hopeful that Antonio Conte’s side can acquire the services of Luis Diaz from FC Porto.

Let’s not kid ourselves, this one is a long way off at the moment, with huge progress needed in the next few days before the window shuts. Gold only claims that there’s a ‘growing hope’ Spurs can make a move for the Colombian.

He provided the update on his YouTube channel, saying: “Tottenham are looking to try and bring him to north London. The latest that I understand on that situation is that there’s a growing hope that they might be able to get this deal done – they’re throwing everything at it.”

It would be a real statement of intent from Conte and Spurs should a deal materialise, given interest from elsewhere. Fellow Premier League side Liverpool have been after Diaz, so to beat the recent Premier League and Champions League winners to his signature would show Spurs are able to compete with title challengers.

Do you know Spurs' former academy players? Which former Burnley player used to play for Spurs' academy?

He has been impressive this year for Porto. He has 14 goals and five assists in his 18 league games for the Portuguese side. He was also in good form in the Champions League. Despite Porto’s group of death with Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Milan, he managed two goals in the six group games.
