Antonio Conte has named his Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up for today’s game and the fans aren’t impressed.

He’s elected to play Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg which left the fans fuming. They have five points to make up on the top four before play started today, but Arsenal could extend the gap depending on how they fare against Manchester City.

Spurs would go 4th if they win games in hand, so keeping pace is vital. It would be a huge statement from the Italian’s side if they are able to leapfrog their North London rivals early into the new year.

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Vicarage Road to take on Claudio Ranieri’s Watford side who are in desperate need of points.

When the team was announced, the Spurs fans flocked to the comments on Twitter to voice their outrage.

How the Spurs fans reacted to the line-up

“Why Hojbjerg man?”@AATHFC

“Actually Hojbjerg shouldn’t be playing.” @thfcsxn

“PLAY WINKS INSTEAD OF HOJBJERG!” @THFC_Kaj

“Hojbjerg, really?” @zstarshooter

“Would prefer Tanguy over Hojbjerg.” @FredrikTHFC

“Think Winks did enough against Southampton to start over Hojbjerg.” @HotspurEditor

“Agree, Hojbjerg doesn’t offer anything against sit back teams” @echoSpurs

“Hojbjerg is becoming a problem we will not accomplish anything when his level of player is a main stay in the midfield” @lxstlosty

A win for Spurs would pile the pressure on the Tinkerman at Watford, with his job reportedly under threat already.

Do you know Spurs' former academy players? Which former Burnley player used to play for Spurs' academy?

You’d expect Spurs to have too much for Watford regardless, securing a much needed win to kick off 2022. Time will tell if he’s made the right decision or not and the fans could be left eating their words if the three points are secured.
