Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel to discuss a potential switch to Tottenham Hotspur for Georginio Wijnaldum.

According to reports, the Lilywhites have been in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible loan move for Tanguy Ndombele this month.

And further speculation has emerged suggesting the Dutchman could be used as a potential bargaining tool for the Spurs midfielder’s services.

Despite having only been at the club for a matter of months, a potential return to the Premier League was being tipped for Wijnaldum, however, Romano had the following to say:

“I’m told that he’s not involved in any talk with Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham, so I don’t see him joining Spurs. Let’s see if some other club will jump into it. But at the moment, the expectation is for the player to stay until the end of the season.”

TIF Thoughts on Georginio Wijnaldum to Spurs…

It seems as if a move to Spurs for Wijnaldum would be an unlikely one in this window, but it does sound like they are making their move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.

Wijnaldum has vast Premier League experience from his time with both Newcastle United and Liverpool, but this season seems to have been a big shock to the system for the Dutchman as he has been struggling for consistent game time.

Given Spurs typically look to sign players in their early twenties, we do struggle to see them making a move for Wijnaldum in the summer.
