Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss the club’s plans for the January transfer window.

And the Spurs correspondent provided a potentially worrying claim on the reported transfer meeting between Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici, which he believes is still yet to take place.

Have you been impressed by Paratici so far?

Gold did provide a caveat for his claim by suggesting the meeting may not be as important as some fans may feel, as the pair do speak on a daily basis.

However, the Lilywhites find themselves a week into the January transfer window with no new arrivals, and according to Gold, Conte is yet to formally discuss targets with his superiors.

Just months on from spending over £60m in the summer window, Gold had the following to say on his understanding regarding the communication behind the scenes when it comes to transfers:

“From what I understand, he’s yet to have that transfer meeting yet with Fabio Paratici, Daniel Levy, I think Steve Hitchen’s involved as well – the technical performance director.

“What I would say – and this is maybe Conte in saying it is maybe building [it] up as well, I don’t probably think it’s quite as big a deal as we’re kind of making out, and I include myself in that because from what I understand, Conte and Paratici talk every day anyway.”

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments…

We think this could be a big month ahead for the Lilywhites both on and off the pitch, with Conte’s first opportunity to add to his inherited squad and a tough run of fixtures ahead of them.

Although initially, Gold’s comments could be viewed as worrying to some Spurs fans given we are already a week into the transfer window, we think Conte has made it pretty clear in his interviews what he is looking for in the market.

And as Gold said, Conte and Paratici will have daily interactions at Hotspur Way or over the phone, so we do not feel the pair will be too far off the mark when it comes to potential targets for this month.
