Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on the latest episode of the Gold & Guest talk Tottenham podcast about the club’s latest transfer news.

Two weeks into the transfer window, Spurs are yet to make any transactions, with no new players arriving or unwanted players departing.

Do you think Conte will walk away?

However, the Spurs reporter has revealed Antonio Conte’s transfer meeting with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici has now taken place, with some optimism coming out of it.

There were reports suggesting the three were scheduled to meet and discuss their plans for the January window, and with it nearly at the halfway point, it has finally taken place.

Although winning the league may not be the club’s realistic target this season, Spurs currently sit 20 points off the top of the table, which is a sign of how far the Lilywhites have fallen off the pace over the last few seasons.

And with Conte speaking so openly in his press conferences about the club’s need for investment in the coming transfer windows, Gold had the following to reveal:

“This meeting, from what I’m told, everything I understand about it went really well, for all sides seem to be really happy with how it went. The word I keep hearing is ‘sensible’ – that’s the word I keep hearing about this meeting, that everyone understood what they were going to get from each other and what could be done and what was realistic.”

TIF Thoughts on January at Spurs…

Reports have suggested Conte has identified three key positions he wants to address this month, and as of yet, the Italian has not received any new additions to bolster his squad.

And over the course of their two legs in the Carabao Cup against Chelsea, it was apparent they need some new additions to close the gap to their London rivals.

The 52-year-old walked away from Inter over disagreements with their board, and we just wonder how long Conte may last in north London if he grows tired of his dealings with the board over matters such as transfers.

Levy had better start backing Conte or be prepared to lose him and bring himself a lot of trouble from the fans.
