Tottenham Hotspur reporter Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to address Daniel Levy’s recent trip to the Bahamas over the new year.

It was revealed last week that the Spurs chairman had flown out to the Caribbean where the club owner, Joe Lewis, is famously known to reside.

Levy in or Levy out?

The report to emerge suggested the 59-year-old had ventured out to discuss potential investment opportunities arising for Spurs in the near future with the Tottenham owner.

However, the Spurs correspondent provided his understanding on the situation, with Gold believing Levy had simply travelled to the other side of the world on an end-of-year break.

With the Lilywhites nearly two weeks into the January transfer window and still without their first arrival, Gold had the following to say on Levy’s departure from the country:

“Daniel Levy, obviously you will have seen is in, or has been in, the Bahamas. I understand he was there on holiday.

“He’d been there since I think pre-Christmas, just to have a break. Obviously, when you hear those words, you hear a ‘break’ and a ‘holiday’ – whatever. Let’s call it a break rather than a holiday because I don’t think, really, Daniel Levy ever stops working. And I get the impression that the guy is – well, he is – everyone tells me he’s an absolute workaholic.

“Was he talking to Joe Lewis about anything particularly exciting? I don’t know, I don’t know. I’ll be honest, I don’t definitely know that Joe Lewis was there at the time.

“You’d imagine, logic would suggest, that if he’s in the Bahamas, he would likely have spoken to Joe Lewis. Would it be about transfers? The cynical side of me would say I don’t think exactly we’ve been seeing Joe Lewis ever pump money into Tottenham in the last 20 years.

“So are we likely to see him suddenly pump money in the transfer window for the first time in two decades? My head tells me probably not.”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ January transfer window…

Tottenham are yet to open their account in the January window, however, they have been reported to be keen on adding to a number of positions over the course of the month.

The north Londoners have a number of big games coming up over the next few weeks and have been hit by an injury to their top scorer in the Premier League, Son Heung-min.

With Harry Kane also the only senior striker at Antonio Conte’s disposal, we find it incredible that Daniel Levy can confidently go into the second half of the season with the squad he has.
