Dean Jones has been speaking on the Football Terrace YouTube channel about the likelihood of Tottenham Hotspur signing Adama Traore.

The Spanish winger was tracked by Tottenham for a long time over the summer, with the north London club even having a bid rejected according to The Athletic, and now it appears that their interest has been reaffirmed this month.

Would Traore be an upgrade at Spurs?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

It’s been reported that Antonio Conte is looking to sign a right wing-back this transfer window, and with Traore’s pace, strength and past experience of playing in that position, Spurs are heavily linked with a move for the Spaniard, who is in the final 18 months of his current contract.

Jones believes that Spurs are confident of landing Traore this month.

He said: “Adama is a player that they’ve admired for quite a long time and there’ll be some competition there for Tottenham, even though Tottenham are reasonably confident that they will conclude a deal for Traore. Spurs are looking at a left-sided centre back and a forward player as well, but they’ve not had too much progress with that so far, from what I’ve heard.”

TIF Thoughts on Traore to Spurs…

It may have been thought over the summer that Traore was being linked with a move as his former manager Nuno Espirito Santo was at the helm, however, even with Conte as the manager, he is still being pursued, so the club clearly rate him very highly.

Traore could well be getting converted into a wing-back, much like what Conte did with Victor Moses during his time at Chelsea, and that could be for the best as the Spaniard has not been performing well in the final third as an attacker over the last season and a half, having scored just twice and registered two assists since the beginning of the last campaign.
