A whole host of Newcastle United fans are furious on Twitter with Pete Graves’ Diego Carlos update.
Newcastle had been tracking Carlos for the majority of this transfer window, but have been dealt a major blow in the final few days of January, with Sky Sports reporter Graves claiming that the club are ready to walk away from any deal.

This appears to be down to the fact Sevilla keep increasing the price that Newcastle have to meet before they become willing sellers, with the price tag initially starting out at €30m (£25.1m). This news will surely be devastating news for both Newcastle – who are still yet to sign a new centre-back since 2018 – and Carlos himself, who was set to triple his wages.

Newcastle fans are rightfully gutted with this news, as their defence is currently the second-worst in the Premier League and in desperate need of some new recruits, but they should take heart from the fact that PIF are not going to be owners that throw silly money at any kind of transfer target, thus not putting them in financial problems further down the line.
