Jordan Cronin has been speaking on the Loaded HQ YouTube channel about where Newcastle United stand in pursuit of Kieran Trippier.
Newcastle’s business is now seemingly underway according to Luke Edwards, who has reported that Trippier is an imminent arrival, as well as the club looking towards deals for James Tarkowski, Lloyd Kelly, Sven Botman and Harry Winks.
Will Newcastle sign Trippier?
It will be great for Newcastle fans to see their new owners and manager have identified the defence being an obvious area of weakness by looking to sign Trippier as soon as possible and they may not have to wait long to see him arrive.
Cronin has spoken about the confidence Newcastle have in terms of the Trippier deal.
“So the information I’ve received on Trippier is that Newcastle are confident of getting the deal done and I wouldn’t say that it is a done deal – it’s far from being a done deal – but it’s certainly heading in the right direction.
“Talks have been held with the player, the player is keen to come and I’ve written in a piece that he’s not fazed by entering a relegation battle, which I think is great news.”
TIF Thoughts on Trippier to Newcastle…
If Newcastle can genuinely pull off a deal to sign Trippier it would be a signal of intent and show that they may not struggle to sign players this window, as some pundits have previously suggested.
It’s not like Trippier is a player that’s well past his best as he’s featured in all but four La Liga games for Atletico Madrid this season and is an England international who started in the World Cup final last summer, so he would instantly be an upgrade in that position.
