Newcastle United have enjoyed a busy transfer window to date, bringing in Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood already. They are now going all-out to improve the backline, with Diego Carlos the main target.
Sky Sports’ Pete Graves has been providing the supporters with updates on the situation, claiming that the Brazilian centre-half is ‘very intrigued’ by the Toon and they have a ‘substantial’ offer on the table for him.
Will Newcastle sign Diego Carlos?Yes!![]() No!![]() |
He then relayed this news on social media, with the Newcastle fans delighted with the update in the replies.
What the Newcastle fans said…
“If the player wants it I suspect it will happen. Hope so as we still need deals and quickly.”
“A good start for the day.”
“He’s the one that I want.”
“Let’s hope it comes off, even better if done by 12pm…”
“Great news, cheers Pete!”
“Get it done @ghodoussi.”
“Let’s make this happen.”
Clearly, the fans would be delighted to see a deal go through, especially for someone who has six Champions League appearances under their belt this season. That sort of recent experience would be a huge upgrade on the calibre of player at the club already, perhaps barring La Liga champion Trippier.

The fact the player is reportedly interested in the move is a big help for Newcastle. In theory, it makes it harder for Sevilla to turn down the approach, especially if it is ‘substantial’. It’s incredibly hard to keep a player happy and performing well when they are blocked from sealing transfers they are after.
He is valued at just over £40m by Transfermarkt, so it would be interesting to see what ‘substantial’ bid has been made.
