Newcastle United fans look like they could be welcoming another defensive reinforcement to St James’ Park in the coming days in the shape of Mitchel Bakker.
Craig Hope has reported that Newcastle have been quoted £16 million for his services, with the transfer one we could ‘see movement on’ according to the journalist.

He also reported that Bayer Leverkusen were already hunting for a replacement for the Dutchman, meaning his departure is likely to be imminent.

The Newcastle fans are clearly happy with the signing, bolstering their defensive options. It also gives Eddie Howe options on formations/line ups as he can now move players around such as Paul Dummett.

Bakker appears to be a good offensive outlet too, he only has 12 Bundesliga games under his belt this season, but he has been effective going forward.
He has a goal and two assists in the 12 games, it doesn’t sound like a lot, but it shows he is capable going forward too, enhancing that left hand side should he switch to Newcastle.
