A whole host of Newcastle United fans are buzzing on Twitter as an update emerges about their pursuit of Mitchel Bakker.
Eddie Howe has already added one defender to his ranks this month in the form of Kieran Trippier, but the pursuit remains to tighten up a back four that has kept just two clean sheets this season as both Diego Carlos and Bakker are on the club’s radar.

The latter is just 21-years old but has already played for both PSG and Bayer Leverkusen while also registering three assists in the Bundesliga this term which has piqued Newcastle’s interest and The Telegraph are now reporting that the Magpies are set to discuss personal terms with the Dutchman.

While the emergence of Javier Manquillo’s ability to perform well at left-back, highlighted by his run for the goal against Leeds United, may well lessen the need for a new signing in that position, if Bakker is available for a good price then PIF may see it as a good investment for the long-term as well as for the here and now.
