Newcastle United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding Nicolas Tagliafico and a possible move to the club in the January transfer window.
Defence is the area on the pitch that Newcastle arguably need to focus on the most during the window, having conceded the joint-most goals in the top flight so far this season with a total of 42 in their 19 games.
Left-back in particular is an area of defence that the club appear to be strongly focusing on, with claims suggesting that they are willing to shell out £22.5m plus Sean Longstaff in an attempt to sign Everton’s Lucas Digne.
However, according to a report in The Daily Mail, Newcastle have lined up Ajax’s Tagliafico should they fail in their attempt to bring Digne to St. James’ Park.
News of their interest in Tagliafico was relayed to fans by @NUFC360, with many delighted at the prospect of signing the Argentine, with some even claiming that he should be their first-choice target rather than the backup to the Toffees defender:
“Would rather have him than Digne. Plus Digne’s atittude is a bit worrying”
How many players do Newcastle need to sign?
Five or less?
More than five?
It certainly is nice to see that they have options when it comes to spending, which makes a difference to how they were run in the previous regime.
