Newcastle United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a potential move for Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window.
According to a report from The Manchester Evening News, Newcastle are working on a deal to bring in 29-year-old Lingard on loan for the remainder of the season – at which point, his contract at Old Trafford will expire.
The report claims the Magpies would “cover the entirety of Lingard’s £100,000-a-week wages for the rest of his United contract” and that Lingard “is yet to commit to the move and is still believed to favour a return to London”.
Having had a very successful loan spell last season with West Ham United, in which his nine goals and five assists helped them secure European football, Newcastle will surely be hoping that he could bring the same magic to them and keep them in the Premier League.
So when news of their interest was relayed to the fans by local newspaper The Chronicle on Twitter, there were plenty of fans excited at the idea of signing him:

Although, with West Ham United reportedly showing an interest to take him back to the London Stadium, it’s not a certainty that Newcastle will be able to make a deal happen.
