Newcastle United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding two possible new signings ahead of their clash this weekend in the Premier League.

Newcastle are finally getting things moving when it comes to the January transfer window. They announced the signing of Kieran Trippier last week, and have more recently made the signing of Chris Wood official as well.

But they aren’t going to stop there, and according to journalist Dean Jones, Newcastle fans might not have to wait long for the next signings to come through the door. Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones claimed that the club were hoping to get deals for both Hugo Ekitike and Diego Carlos completed before this weekend’s game with Watford.

Can you name who scored the most league goals for Newcastle United in years gone by? Let's see if you can starting with 2020/21

The game itself is a relegation six-pointer, with Watford just two places above Eddie Howe’s men in the table, so getting these two players in on time would be a major boost for Newcastle United.

When the news was relayed to them by @NUFC360 on Twitter, there was a sense of excitement going around at how close they could possibly be to getting these deals over the line:

“If Ekitike becomes as good as Mbappe based on the early comparisons. The kid would be worth ludicrous amounts in 2 years from now. Must build the team around him.”
“If we pull off one of these we’ve done well. Can’t see both happening but amazing if it does. Carlos had to be the priority of the 2 for this window/current situation”
“I hope we get that Hugo Ekitke for whatever cost because that boy is mega like. He looks absolutely unreal at times. Infact he’s unplayable”
“What an unreal next few days it’ll be then.”
“Massive news”
“That’s the dream”
“That would be absolutely fantastic if they could do that”
“If they pull this off I’ll be blown away”

It is a race against time, however, with players needing to be registered by midday the day before a game, so there isn’t a lot of time left for them to be eligible for the match against the Hornets.
