A lot of Newcastle United fans have shared their delight on Twitter as defender Federico Fernandez provided an update on his injury status.
The Argentine centre-back has had a difficult 2021/22 campaign so far, with just seven appearances in the Premier League as a result of his injury issues.

Fernandez has not played for the Magpies since early December due to the thigh injury which initially saw the 32-year-old sit out their heavy defeat away to Leicester City (via Transfermarkt).
On Monday, the centre-back took to Instagram to inform the Toon fans that his rehabilitation is going well with a photo of him in the gym and the caption: “Feeling better.”
The Tyneside club relayed the Argentine’s injury update on Twitter, which saw fans flock to share their relief.

Fernandez suffered a similar injury last season which saw him miss seven games, which is also the number of games he has missed so far this season with the same issue (via Transfermarkt).
And given Eddie Howe is yet to see a new centre-back walk through the door in this month’s transfer window, it is evident this news has come as a boost with the Magpies looking to turn around their poor defensive form.
