A whole host of Newcastle United fans were buzzing on Twitter with the latest claim involving Duvan Zapata.
The Colombian striker is reportedly willing to join Newcastle, although according to The Express, their first bid which was a loan offer and an option to buy the 30-year old in the summer was rejected, and it’s obvious why Atalanta don’t want to lose him having already netted 12 goals across all competitions this season.

Portuguese insider Pedro Almeida has now reported that Newcastle have re-entered discussions with Atalanta with an improved loan offer which also includes an obligation to buy in the summer for €40m (£33.5m).

While a striker may well be on the cards for PIF and Newcastle, signing another striker who is at least 30 years old in this transfer window and committing to a £33.5m outlay in the summer before even seeing Zapata play in the Premier League would be a huge gamble to take – and the Magpies can’t afford many more gambles.
