Paul Dummett has been absent for Newcastle all season, not playing a single minute for the Toon Army. He was named in the squad for the FA Cup humiliation to Cambridge United, but didn’t come on from the bench.

Newcastle’s defence has been dodgy this season, they’ve conceded the second-most goals so far with only Norwich conceding more, showing they need to improve, and quickly.

Should Dummett start for Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Dummett recently tweeted an image of him in training, with the caption ‘Ready’, which got the fans buzzing. They flocked to the comments to show their delight.

What the Newcastle fans said…

“Great to see! D.”

@antanddec

“Good to see you back mate, you’ve been missed!”

@Nufc2Everything

“Don’t say it, don’t say it, don’t say it… Like a new signing.”

@garfbobt

“He’s back”

@bigGraemeD

“Massive + like a new signing”

@SBornToPuntS

“Best left back at the club, good to see you back young man.”

@BoringGeordie2

“Hope you start… We need you, glad to have you back xx.”

@SarahWi25791269

“This is brilliant news!!”

@palmtreegeordie

Dummett has been missing for large periods for Newcastle. He only played 15 times in the Premier League last season, showing his fitness has been a concern for the Magpies.

His run of games towards the end of last season suggests that if he can stay fit, he can provide a great option to the Toon and Eddie Howe.

Can you name who scored the most league goals for Newcastle United in years gone by? Let's see if you can starting with 2020/21

The Newcastle fans are clearly delighted with the news, with some even claiming his return will be like a new signing. It says it all when Ant and Dec are getting involved in the excitement!

With not playing in the FA Cup game, you’d imagine it’s unlikely that he will start at the weekend.
