Newcastle United have stepped up their pursuit of defender Dan Burn, placing another bid for him after seeing a £7 million offer rejected already this window.
Lee Ryder reported news of the new bid on Twitter, claiming that the Magpies are flying back from their winter break camp in Saudi Arabia, waiting on a response from Brighton and Hove Albion after improving their original offer.
Would Dan Burn be a good signing?
Keith Downie of Sky Sports had already reported that Burn is a Newcastle fan himself, so the deal seems perfect for all parties, with the move likely to be a dream move for the defender.
What the Newcastle fans said on the Dan Burn update
“Accept it Brighton.” @JSpence24
“This lad’s a cracking player! Something to prove for the club, himself and his family, perfect signing!” @ToonBlackWhite
“He’d be an excellent signing. Solid, knows the PL and can get him for less than £15m. Absolute no brainer!!” @SDPWtips
“Really need this to come off or we’re in trouble CB wise.” @DavidJG00615083
“Hope we get him Lee!” @Rich1982Miller
“Can’t you keep it under wraps Lee until the deal is done? It just adds to the anxiety.” @JavedYusufMohd
It’s clear that the Toon Army want to see Burn through the door at St James’ Park, sooner rather than later as time is running out rapidly to strengthen their defence.
We’ve already seen the likes of Diego Carlos and Sven Botman appear close to the switch only for a deal to collapse, so it’ll be an anxious wait for the Newcastle fans as they see if a deal can be pushed through.
