A collection of Newcastle United fans have been left rather excited after transfer target Sven Botman liked an Instagram post relating to their club.

With the transfer market now open, the Magpies are looking to bolster their squad this January. It looks as though Kieran Trippier is set to become the first signing of the new Saudi-led investment era, as a £12m fee with Atletico Madrid has reportedly already been agreed between the two teams.

With that deal close to crossing the line, social media page @443 shared an Instagram post with an image of Trippier in a Newcastle shirt. Twitter user @NerdNufc then noticed that Botman – who has also been linked with a move of late – happened to like the post.

They shared a screenshot of what he discovered online and it quickly had many club supporters happily reading between the lines.

Here’s what these Newcastle fans had to say…

“We’re at the Botman liking NUFC updates on Instagram stage – only a matter of time now.”

“Why is Sven Botman flirting with us so heavily guys?”
“Getting my hopes up from an Instagram post again? You bet ya.”
“Wow wow wow!”
“Oooh that’s massive.”
“Just seen this!! Something going on here! Player to push move.”
“Madness”

The latest reports on the Lille centre-back did seem to suggest that his club had rejected the Magpies’ £30m offer. However, this recent online activity could hint at the player still being keen on making a move happen.
