A collection of Newcastle United fans have reacted with huge delight and excitement after hearing their club have had a bid accepted for Bruno Guimaraes.
As reported by Sky Sports News journalist Keith Downie, the player’s current club Lyon have supposedly been tempted into a sale for a fee in the region of £30m. The claim also adds that the Brazilian international could undergo a medical in his homeland as early as Wednesday afternoon.
Despite Arsenal being strongly linked with interest in the midfielder, it does now seem as if the Magpies have won the race to claim Guimaraes’ signature.

After sharing his update on Twitter, it’s safe to say Downie’s claim left a number of fans in a very good mood.

The sheer joy in the tweets above is palpable, as these fans don’t seem to believe that this deal is close to actually happening.
And it appears it may actually be too good to be true – as Lyon would later ‘categorically’ deny that there is any truth to the claims put forward by the likes of Downie.
With just Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier signed so far this winter, Newcastle could certainly do with a bit of extra quality to help them avoid relegation this season.
If Guimaraes does sign, he could well be the difference between playing Premier League and Championship football next term.
