Plenty of Newcastle United fans have reacted with excitement online after hearing Kieran Trippier is set for a medical with their club.
Even before the January transfer market opened, the Magpies were strongly linked with a move for the English right-back. Now, less than a week into the winter window, it looks as though they could be set to land their man.
Indeed, as reported by Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Atletico Madrid defender has agreed personal terms with the Magpies and his medical is already planned – he also added that Trippier wanted to leave and that his personal desire was key for the move.

It’s safe to say these fans are more than ready to hear the news that Trippier has officially signed for their club. Of course, he still has to pass his medical, and perhaps there are a few other finer details to sort out, but if Romano’s tweet is accurate, it does look as if this transfer is close.
It will be interesting to see how the right-back does back in England. After all, he joins Newcastle in the midst of a Premier League relegation battle, while in La Liga he was pushing for Champions League football.
