Duncan Castles has been speaking on The Transfer Window podcast about the amount of pressure Amanda Staveley is under at Newcastle United.

The insider has previously claimed that Staveley is working under a management contract at Newcastle United, which means that PIF can cancel it whenever they please if the financier isn’t thought to be doing a good enough job or if they find someone more suitable to run the club on a day-to-day basis.

Will Eddie Howe keep Newcastle up?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Staveley has seemingly taken it upon herself to work through transfer targets, alongside temporary advisor Nick Hammond, and that appears to have seen the number of eyes and pressure on her from PIF only increase, mainly because of how important and crucial this transfer window is for the future of the Magpies.

Castles believes that Staveley is under pressure to perform for her future working at Newcastle.

“You have an ownership structure where 80% is owned by PIF, but the management contract for the club is with Amanda Staveley, PCP Partners. That management contract could be cancelled at any point; it is not an indefinite agreement, in the sense that PIF are committed to using PCP for a set period of time.

“Therefore, Amanda Staveley is under pressure here, and she has essentially taken it on herself to be de facto chief executive, while they look for a new chief executive.”

TIF Thoughts on Amanda Staveley’s role at Newcastle United…

The financier has been at the forefront of Newcastle since the takeover was completed last October, and this is despite Staveley herself only owning 10% of the football club, but it appears that this is more than who controls what within the club, but more that she genuinely cares about the team and the area, given she’d attempted to buy Newcastle on more than one occasion before linking up with PIF.

However, based on Castles’ comments, if she can’t produce transfers that improve Eddie Howe’s chances of keeping Newcastle up or fails to successfully move players on who are not required anymore, then PIF may see it as a failed task and wish to have her removed from a hands-on role and move to behind the scenes themselves.
