Phil Hay has been speaking about Leeds United’s desire to sign Brenden Aaronson.

After a seemingly slow start to the transfer window, it now appears that Leeds United are beginning to kick their transfer window into action with a first bid submitted and ultimately rejected for Aaronson, while David Anderson has reported another bid has been lodged for a second unknown player.

Is Aaronson worth £20 million?

Hay has now confirmed via The Athletic, that Leeds have returned for a second and improved offer to RB Salzburg to try and prise away Aaronson midway through their season, but with the club still in the Champions League, a summer move could be more likely.

Speaking on The Phil Hay Show, the Leeds United journalist has claimed that Leeds are not looking to slow down their pursuit of Aaronson.

“I’d like to see it happen in this window because again, it’s just that extra body, that extra bit of talent, extra resource that could change the team, could enhance the team and just help them through the second half of the season.

“My feeling with it is definitely that if it doesn’t happen in this window, they will go back in the summer. I think he’s a player that they’ve decided now that they do want to get hold of.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ pursuit of Aaronson…

If Aaronson was to join Leeds then at the age of 21 he will have already played in the United States, Austria and England which, if nothing else, will highlight his mental strength and willingness to go very far outside of his comfort zone to improve his career and ability.

Journalist Conor McGilligan (1:50) believes the 21-year old midfielder would ‘fit into a Marcelo Bielsa system’ which would be great news for Leeds fans, as that means Aaronson could go straight into the lineup and help a relatively thin midfield department, especially with Kalvin Phillips still out injured.
