Phil Hay has delivered a positive Leeds United injury update while speaking on The Phil Hay Show.

Despite a boatload of injuries all season Marcelo Bielsa is slowly but surely starting to guide Leeds United away from the threat of relegation as they now sit nine points ahead of the drop zone, all while without the likes of Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips.

No!

Even though Leeds did manage to pick up a huge three points last week, it came at a cost with both Junior Firpo and Adam Forshaw picking up knocks and having to be substituted off early, although Bielsa now seems to have a trio of new options that could be ready to start in the form of Rodrigo, Tyler Roberts and Joe Gelhardt.

Hay has revealed this Leeds United injury boost.

“There is slightly better news: it sounds like Joe Gelhardt has a good chance this weekend; Tyler Roberts seems to be over his calf injury as well; Diego Llorente will be back from suspension.

“He missed the game down at West Ham, although I suppose there’s the question of whether or not he gets back into the team straight away; I think he probably does.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds United’s current situation…

After picking up an impressive victory away to European hopefuls West Ham, Bielsa and Leeds will be expecting to beat a relegation-threatened and relatively poor Newcastle United side at Elland Road this weekend.

While the Magpies have managed to bring in two established names in the form of Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier, Leeds should be seen as favourites especially if the reverse fixture is anything to go by when it finished 1-1 at St. James’ Park, but Leeds did end the game with an expected goals value of 2.0 compared to Newcastle’s 1.1, so despite injuries, Leeds may have too much.
