Express Sport journalist Ryan Taylor has been speaking about Leeds United transfer target Brenden Aaronson on his YouTube channel.

After a slow start to the transfer window, Leeds and Victor Orta are now ramping up the pressure on their transfer targets, with a second bid of the week being prepared for Aaronson, which, according to The Athletic will be as high as £20 million.

Is Aaronson worth £20 million?

It’s been reported that Aaronson would favour a move to work under Marcelo Bielsa this month, although unsurprisingly, Taylor has been told that RB Salzburg would prefer to keep him until at least the summer, especially with their Champions League campaign set to restart next month.

Taylor has claimed that he’s spoken to a contact working at the Austrian club in an update on Leeds’ interest.

“I reached out to a source at Salzburg in Austria, and they told me that the club are not considering selling any of their senior players just a matter of weeks out from their Champions League knockout tie with Bayern Munich.”

TIF Thoughts on Brenden Aaronson and his links to Leeds United…

Bielsa has previously claimed that any player Leeds look to sign this month must improve Leeds’ options in the position they play, so with a clear interest in Aaronson, that means Bielsa must think the 21-year old would upgrade their current midfield department.

While Aaronson could be a smart signing given his age, his willingness to make the move and the fact he could fill in for Kalvin Phillips, Bielsa may question what happens to players such as Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich if and when Phillips returns while Leeds have a new £20 million midfielder in their ranks, so any Aaronson arrival could also potentially require some departures from Elland Road.
