It’s been a fairly quiet January transfer window for Leeds so far, with frustrations growing amongst the supporters given the depleted squad they’ve had to operate with for the most of the season.

Phil Hay did reveal some ‘transfer’ news today, but it was only that of a potential contract extension for Adam Forshaw.

Is Forshaw good enough to start for Leeds?

When he shared his article on Twitter, the Leeds fans were delighted with the prospect. The Athletic journalist claimed that the club were in talks with the midfielder over extending his Leeds contract, something Hay claimed to be a decision for the Whites that was ‘easy to make’ given his comeback from injury.

What the Leeds fans said about Phil Hay’s Adam Forshaw contract update

“He deserves it.” @Harrison81A

“This is great news… Are we in the market for anyone new for this month though?” @bw9164

“Sensible I reckon, really impressive comeback. 1 year extension maybe? Perhaps so he can continue to improve his fitness.” @bluepens40

“No brainer to offer a one year. If he consistently keeps fit/levels of performance, then I’d give him a 2 year after. That would take him to his 33rd birthday I believe?” @Davey_Ennis_1

“I actually think he’s been better since his comeback than he was previously, obviously trying (successfully) to prove his doubters wrong.” @went57

“He deserves it, been excellent since returning from injury and was a mainstay prior to injury. That said, the new contract should be no longer than 2 seasons, given his age & injury record.” @AtypicalLeeds

After missing out on the opening part of the season, not featuring in the league once, enforced changes have been a blessing for Forshaw.

He has made 11 Premier League appearances for Leeds so far, not a bad return given he wasn’t involved until early October.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

From the comments, it’s clear to see the Leeds fans want him to stay at the club, not wanting to lose him on a free this summer. However, apprehensions about his injury record are leaving them wanting just a year extension rather than something longer.
