Many Leeds United fans have been left rather upset after hearing that Patrick Bamford’s return from injury has been delayed by a hip problem.

Between both an ankle issue and then a hamstring injury, the England striker has managed to play just 22 minutes of Premier League football since September.

It did seem as though he would, at last, be involved again in Leeds’ recent FA Cup tie – a match against West Ham United that they ultimately lost 2-0.

However, respected journalist Phil Hay later revealed that while Bamford had been expected to start the game, he ‘had a problem around his hip’ and so was not risked. He also added that manager Marcelo Bielsa does not yet know the full extent of the issue.

The news was shared on Twitter by Hay, and it’s safe to say it was not greeted which much positivity from the club’s supporters.

Here’s what these Leeds fans said…

@andrearadri get some money spent. This is pathetic.”

Unfortunately for Leeds, they have been without their key man for the bulk of this season. Last season, Bamford played in all 38 league matches, scoring 17 goals along the way. This term, injuries have limited his appearances to just six – in which time he has scored twice.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

As of now, it still remains unclear as to how long this latest issue is set to postpone Bamford’s possible return. Judging from these comments, though, the Leeds supporters are fearing the worst.
